Skye Event Space
A hub of cultural and community activityNext door to our community-owned campsite we have created an outdoor venue for the South Skye community and beyond.
This new space adjacent to Camping Skye will host a wide range of community and cultural events. When not in use for events it will also provide additional campervan spaces for the campsite.
The approx. 40 sq metre multi-use space will have the capacity for a marquee or small-scale festival tent, and be suitable for markets, music and cultural events. It will also provide opportunities for local groups to host their own fundraising events, offering an important lifeline to voluntary groups and helping our community to become more self-sufficient. By extending the capacity of Camping Skye it will encourage more people to stay in south Skye and help alleviate the pressure on Skye’s tourism infrastructure.

The desire for an event space in this area stretches back to our initial community consultations around the campsite over 10 years ago.
Construction works for the project include building a hard-standing gravel area, extensive tree-planting and the creation of access paths and a hedgerow. The main build was completed in summer 2023 and events will take place from Spring 2024.
The completed development will be managed by Camping Skye staff, BSCC volunteer directors and a community fundraising group.
