Grow Local! Celebration event – 27 September

Aug 29, 2024

Join us for an end-of-season celebration of local food and growing

Friday 27 September, 3 – 6.30 pm, at the Growers Hub

Join us for tastings and tours, music and merriment as we mark the end of the growing season at the Growers Hub. Find out what we get up to at the community allotments, Corry Capers outdoor learning, Flourish Together horticultural therapy and the Men’s Shed.  Sample local foodie treats from John at the Hebridean Inn, get growing tips from our community gardener, and join in a composting demo/workshop with the Highland Community Waste Partnership. Meet allotment holders and find out about our new Tree Nursery project. We’ll also have a swap & share table for any surplus produce or unwanted gardening tools/equipment.

The event is organised in partnership with ReRoot, the new group linked to Skye Climate Action who are working to create a more connected, heathy, sustainable and resilient food economy in Broadford and beyond. There will be an opportunity to meet ReRoot volunteers and find out about future foodie events.

We encourage sustainable travel to the event. The Growers Hub is 10 minutes’ walk from Broadford Post Office, via the footpath through Camping Skye – look out for signs. There is limited parking on site and Disabled users will be prioritised.

Grow Local! is part of the Highlands and Islands Climate Festival. Supported by the Growing Together Fund via Central Scotland Green Network and Green Action Trust.
