The Broadford and Strath Community Company has secured funding to develop a new Growers Hub based in the Broadford and Strath Community Company’s community allotments. We are now seeking to appoint two Project Officers to help us successfully deliver this very exciting new project. This project, funded by the Big Lottery Fund, aims to provide opportunities for local people to grow plants, learn about horticulture and garden management and provide advice.
Hub Coordinator
This is a part time post of 15 hours per week and will co-ordinate the activities of the Hub, set-up and support a Men’s Shed group and support other groups using the allotment site. The Hub Co-ordinator will manage the maintenance schedule of the site and will involve local volunteers to do the work. The ideal candidate will have a background in horticulture and experience of involving and supporting people using allotments. The person will need good people skills, be well organised, have initiative and enthusiasm. The Hub Coordinator will be contracted on a self-employed basis at a rate of £20 per hour (including VAT where applicable).
Horticultural Therapist
This is a part time post of 5 hours per week increasing by annual increments to 9 hours per week by year 5. Ideally the candidate will have had experience of delivering horticultural therapy sessions, have good people skills and an ability to work to their own initiative. The Horticultural Therapist will be contracted on a self-employed basis at a rate of £20 per hour (including VAT where applicable) based on 30 weeks work per year.
