Volunteering and learning opportunities this autumn
The Community Tree Nursery is the latest addition to our Growers Hub. Launched in summer 2024, this is initially a 14-month pilot project which will enable us to build a volunteer team, deliver learning activity and test what works best in our location. The aim is to grow a variety of trees from locally sourced seeds which can then be shared among the community and planted in our community woodland.
There are lots of opportunities for getting involved this autumn:
Volunteer opportunities
Every Wednesday morning in October (10am – 12) we’re running seed collecting events. These take place in a different location each week targeting a variety of trees and shrubs. And in the afternoon (1 – 3pm) you can join us at the Growers Hub for seed processing. For more information and to sign up contact Project Officer Phil Knott: phil@broadfordandstrath.org
Learning events
Phil will also be running a number of free tree-related talks and workshops from the end of October onwards (evenings and daytimes). Keep checking our Facebook page for updates and contact Phil to join the mailing list for updates.
The Community Tree Nursery project is generously supported by Crown Estate Scotland.
