We are delighted to announce an award of £8500 from the Highland Nature Restoration Fund towards work in Broadford Community Woodland.
The capital grant will provide ‘added value’ to our Community Woodland Restoration project, which is supported by the Highlands & Islands Environment Foundation. The grant will contribute to our long term aim of creating a thriving native woodland, owned and managed by the community, through the removal of invasive, non-native species (INNS) and the planting of native tree species from BSCC’s Community Tree Nursery.
Specifically the grant will enable us to: purchase specialised equipment to assist with path creation; purchase additional tools and equipment for volunteer work parties; and employ tree professionals to remove some of the self-seeded Sitka that are too large for volunteers to safely handle.
There are lots of opportunities to get involved in our nature restoration activities as a volunteer. Contact Project Officer Phil Knott for more information and to join the mailing list: phil@broadfordandstrath.org
