Director Opportunities at BSCC

Jun 25, 2025

A great way to support your community!

We are looking for new volunteers to join the BSCC Board of Directors. Our Directors play a vital role in overseeing the charity’s activities and supporting the staff team. We’re looking for people with energy and enthusiasm for making a difference in our local community, and willingness to dedicate a few hours a month to the role.

This is a great time to join Broadford & Strath Community Company. We have a fantastic team of staff and volunteers, a range of successful projects, and funding for some exciting new initiatives. We have a robust financial model through our successful community campsite, Camping Skye, and an excellent track record in fundraising.

What’s the commitment?

  • Attend monthly board meetings, either in person or by video call. These are normally held in Broadford outside working hours and last 1.5 – 2 hours.
  • Each Director normally focuses on one project or area of interest. This might be a building project, environmental initiative, or general area such as fundraising.
  • Directors also contribute to decision-making about the organisation, e.g. finance and forward planning. This takes place at board meetings and via email.

What we offer

  • Satisfaction of being part of an innovative and award-winning charity.
  • Opportunity to share your skills and life experience to support our community.
  • Potential for personal and professional development.
  • Training and support relevant to the role.

Who we’re looking for

  • We need people who can work as part of a team, are good communicators, and are committed to BSCC’s aims and objectives.
  • You will need to be comfortable with using computers for emails and accessing documents online.
  • You do not need previous governance experience – we will provide a full induction and training.
  • We welcome a broad range of skills and experience but are particularly interested in the following sectors: HR, finance, education, fundraising, construction & building maintenance, marketing & communications, event organisation, environmental, legal.
  • Directors are normally required to be resident of the Broadford & Strath Community Council area. We may also appoint up to 3 Co-opted Directors from outside the area where they bring specialist experience and/or skills.
