Have your say on new path proposals.
We are developing plans for a new path to link Broadford Hospital & Health Centre with Broadford village centre.
The path would run between the hospital bus stop and the shoreside ‘Pier Path’, to create a pleasant and traffic-free short cut for walkers and wheelers. It would be fully accessible for users of mobility scooters and wheelchairs.
The proposal is in response to the strong community interest highlighted by BSCC’s Paths for People community survey last year. The route also features in the community-led Broadford & Strath Local Place Plan, and in the Local Development Plan.
Give us your views
We invite you to view indicative proposals and share views at a drop-in display in Broadford Hospital foyer from Tuesday 30 September to Monday 6 October. The display is part of celebrations for Scotland Climate Week 2025. If you would like to see this path built please do come and give your support.
Alternatively you can view the indicative design on this page, and complete the survey online.

Project background
The path is a local community initiative, coordinated by BSCC. The route was first suggested by members of the community when the new hospital was being designed. The proposal was supported by Broadford & Strath Community Council but unfortunately was not realised as part of the hospital build.
Funding from the Community Led Local Development Fund, via the Highlands & Islands Climate Hub, has enabled BSCC to undertake consultation and design work. We have commissioned Mike Hyatt Landscape Architects to prepare detailed technical designs. We are working with the NHS as landowners and key stakeholders. Additional support has been provided by the Highland Council’s Active Travel Officer.
Views shared during this consultation will help shape detailed designs for the path. These will be used to obtain construction costings and planning consents. We will complete this phase by the end of the year. BSCC will then seek funding to construct the path. Funding will be sought from grant-giving bodies such as Walking Scotland. Once completed, the path would become property of NHS Highland.
